I am Dr Cristiane de la Hoz, a registered Acupuncturist with previous experience in neuroscience research at the University of Calgary. I treat my patients with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and its varied modalities: cupping, gua-sha, moxibustion and ear acupuncture. To further help balance the body and mind, I use Chinese herbs as necessary and teach Qi Gong exercises. I also provide dietary and lifestyle tips so your health can improve faster and stay in harmony longer.
I discovered Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) while doing my Master’s studies and became an assiduous patient during my PhD. TCM was a big part of helping me find balance after experiencing burnout. While finishing my post-doctorate in Neurobiology at the UofC, I lost a close family member and I entered a cycle of sadness and pain. With the help of Acupuncture, Chinese herbs and Tai Ji I was able to recover. From there my focus turned to Acupuncture and TCM. My goal became to learn as much as I could about TCM and Acupuncture, so I could help other people the same way my family and I had been helped. I couldn’t be happier with the decision I made. I am very passionate about what I do, about TCM philosophy and its techniques. TCM and acupuncture changed my life and I am very excited to have the opportunity to share the benefits they have to offer with my patients.
I love reading about TCM and practicing Tai Ji, but I also love to spend my free time dancing, having tea with my friends or going for leisure walks with my husband.
